Before beginning the sketching process, I gathered inspiration for the logo and created a moodboard.

Once I had gained a better direction from the moodboard, I got to work in illustrator. I worked to combine fonts and add imagery to create something unique to the garden.

Once the client had decided on a direction, we worked to refine the design. The client wanted to see some borders in order to further connect the concepts, so I gave her a few options and built out a unique alternative.

Once a border was chosen we worked to further refine the logo to fit their needs. The committee decided on adding Schreiner branding and I changed the brown color to the school’s maroon, making the design more cohesive to the message and target market.

The end result: a modern solution to the brand’s vision.

Schreiner Community Garden

Schreiner’s community garden was in need of a re-brand and wanted a logo design that would breathe life into their growing garden while creating excitement about becoming involved in the program. Their vision was to “create a welcoming space that promotes health and learning” in a simple and positive way, and they wanted their logo to reflect just that.

They also have plans to expand beyond the campus community in the future, reaching the Kerrville community as well.

With this in mind, I created a word mark that reflected the values of the garden while also making it versatile enough for future use. The carrot design can be taken out and used as an icon on social media and the Schreiner branding can remain or be left out once expanded into the city.

Here is a look at the process.
